I am enclosing descriptions of some of our holidays. Unfortunately I 
found this project two weeks ago and we could not prepare more.

HOLIDAY: "Miklavz" - St. Nicholas

It is on the fifth of December, when a lot of children in our country 
wait for presents. In the streets there is much noise: St. Nicholas comes 
with angels and some devils ("parklji"), too. Children, who were not good 
in the past year, are scared. 
In the old times children got some apples, oranges, perhaps a pair of 
gloves or socks and they were very happy. Nowadays we all expect a lot of 
big presents. But we have forgotten that this holiday is just a symbol of 
a good man, who helped poor people.

HOLIDAY: "Bozicni vecer" - Christmas Eve

In Slovenia Christmas is a holiday that is very well prepared in all 
homes. On Christmas Eve dinner is something special. Mums bake cakes with 
walnuts, raisins or other fillings. All the family is together. At 
midnight people go to church to a special midnight service. Churches are 
very beautifully lit and decorated. You can admire interesting cribs and 
listen to wonderful singing.

HOLIDAY: "Bozic" - Christmas

Christmas is a very special festival for Slovenian people. Christmas 
trees are decorated and under them there are presents. December is good 
for presents: St. Nicholas brings them, then Father Christmas and at the 
end perhaps Father Frost ("Dedek Mraz". For Christmas good cakes are 
baked from dough, walnuts and other good things.In our family they are 
usually made by my grandmother. In these days all the family is together 
and you can feel a lot of love and happiness in the air.

   SEX: f
   AGE: 14
   SCHOOL: Osnovna sola Savo Kladnik Sevnica (Primary School)

   STATE: Slovenia - Europe

HOLIDAY: "Silvestrovo" - New Year's Eve

This is December 31. On this day our family comes together and we talk 
about good and bad things in the year. We eat only delicious food. 
Sometimes we all play cards or other games. We enjoy being together. We 
usually stay up until midnight and count the last minutes of the year, 
then we toast and wish each other luck. This is a very happy day and I 
really like it.
