small rural public school with 275 students; competing on a grass field.
A description of your community:
BVMS serves the small communities of
Beaver Valley (Fruitvale and Montrose) in the West Kootenay region of
British Columbia. the combined population of Beaver Valley is approx. 5000
people. We are located in the same school district as Trail and Rossland
(approx. 15km away). Our area is very active in recreational pursuits such
as skiing (many World Cup skiers come from here), hockey (we have many
locals playing in the NHL, most notably BVMS graduate Adam Deadmarch from
the Colorado Avalanche), baseball (we hosted the Babe Ruth World Series in
1996), mountain biking, golf, climbing, etc. At school, our major sports
include basketball and volleyball. We also compete on a smaller level in
cross-country and track and field.
