Date: Mon, 13 May 1996 16:31:31 -0400
Hello TeleOlympians:
Here's the follow-up I promised regarding photos for the ABC Kidzine feature on the TeleOlympics.
Those of you without scanning capability should send a copy of your photos by regular mail to NPTN at
NPTN
30680 Bainbridge Road
Solon, Ohio 44139
We won't be able to return the photos, so be sure to send us copies rather than originals.
Those of you with scanning capability should follow the instructions below carefully and e-mail the end result to us at (teleolympics@nptn.org). Those of you who have ftp capabilities you may send your pictures by ftp'ing to nptn.org
log in as anonymous using your email address as the password
cd teleolympics
put (files) remember to send the tif files as binary
and any text files as ascii
Here are the specifications:
Pictures should be saved as TIFF files, formatted for PC rather than Mac. The files should have a name of eight or fewer characters followed by a period and the letters "tif," like so: xxxxxxxx.tif You should be able to save the picture in this format from most photo-editing software, even if you are using a Mac. The pictures should be saved at a resolution of 72 dots per inch. The dimensions should be 200x300 pixels or 300x200 pixels.
Please name your files using the first three letters to indicate your school name, i.e. shs for Smith High School and provide a file indicating what the pictures contain.
You should feel free to crop your photos any way you like, just make sure the end result meets these specs. You may want to scan at a higher resolution so you have some room to work with the photo, then save it at the correct size and resolution as the last step.
We can't wait to see your pictures and read your stories!
Tim
