Subject: ABC Kidzine "coverage" of the Academy One TeleOlympics
Date: Sat, 11 May
Hello TeleOlympians! Some exciting news to pass along. We just received a message from the fine folks at ABC Kidzine, which you may have seen on America OnLine.
(For those of you in other countries, ABC is one of the three major US television networks. ABC Mutimedia is a part of their company that works with online services. America OnLine, or AOL, is the most popular US commercial online service provider.)
>I'm the program director for ABC Online, the network's
>site on AOL. We have a huge kids area, ABC Kidzine, which
>also houses all the ABC Classroom outreach activity to
>schools. The TeleOlympics sounds like such an interesting
>project. Would it be possible for someone to informally
>*cover* them for us, by simply e-mailing tif photos/snapshots
>and writing stories on the goings-on? We would love to then
>post them in our area.
>
>Thanks very much for your interest..Looking forward to
>hearing from you.

We got in touch with Sue and we both agreed that it would be fun to make this into a contest of sorts. We would like the students and faculty to report on the TeleOlympics events at their schools, by taking pictures and by writing brief feature stories. We set up an account for you to send your stories to: (TeleOlympics@nptn.org). We'll get back to you with more info about how to get your pictures to us, either by snail mail or e-mail. We'll pass your stories and pictures along to ABC Kidzine and they'll post the best of them in their area on AOL. Maybe we'll put some of the runners-up on our own Web Page, too. If you want to take pictures of your event winners, we'll try to post those as well.
Be sure to include the name, age, grade and school of the
author(s) with any stories. You can find some story
suggestions on the TeleOlympics Web Page
Although we still need to work out a few details about the pictures (scanning resolutions, etc.) we wanted to get you started now so you can be snapping those great photos and getting those stories ready while your events are going on.
Good luck everyone!
